Misurata Free Zone today launched its investment forum in Rome under the theme “Misurata Free Zone: Africa’s Gateway for Italian Companies,” bringing together more than 100 Italian companies in a significant step toward strengthening economic cooperation and expanding investment ties between Libya and Italy.

The forum was organized by Misurata Free Zone in collaboration with the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo. The event was attended by Eng. Ayman El-Derwish, Director General of Misurata Free Zone; Senator Marco Scurria, Chairman of the Parliamentary Group Friends of Libya; H.E. Gianluca Alberini, Ambassador of Italy to Libya; Nicola Colicchi, President of the Libyan-Italian Chamber of Commerce; Patrizia Mauro, Director General of Confindustria Assafrica & Mediterraneo; together with senior government officials, diplomats, and prominent representatives of the business communities of both countries.

During the forum, Eng. Aladdin Baba, Director of Marketing and International Cooperation, delivered a keynote presentation showcasing Misurata Free Zone’s strategic location, world-class infrastructure, ongoing expansion projects, and investor-friendly regulatory framework. The presentation also highlighted high-potential opportunities across logistics, sustainable energy, maritime industries, and value-added manufacturing, reaffirming the Free Zone’s role as a competitive investment destination and a gateway to African markets.

The Rome forum marks the first stage of Misurata Free Zone’s direct engagement with European businesses following its landmark strategic partnership with leading international operators for the development of the Misurata Free Zone Port. The initiative reflects the Free Zone’s long-term vision to strengthen its global partnerships, attract high-quality foreign investment, and further establish its position as a strategic logistics and trade hub linking Europe with Africa.
