Misurata City:-

 

     Misurata is located on the Mediterranean coast between longitude 15/6 East and Latitude 32/23 North and (6) meters at the level of sea surface.

he city is located in the interior plan on the Libyan coast at (210km) East from Tripoli, and (820km) west from Benghazi and near the road directing south wards to Chad.
Misurata enjoys the mMediterranean climate which is wet and rainy in winter, hot and dry in summer.

     There are not any mountains or highlands as all its lands are flat on which some valleys run in winter and the north it has marshes and alit of sand dunes. In the west it is surrounded by a fertile narrow plain among sand dunes and low hills. The beach which stretches from Zliten to Misurata is distinguished by a number of small gulfs which are surrounded by rocky uplands. Also Misurata is on a plain agricultural area and has a number of palm trees more than

(200,000) palms in addition to more then (25,000) other fruit trees and the biggest olive plantation is on the Libyan coast.
     This city enjoys a unique topographic phenomenon on Mediterranean coast which is the existence of a belt of high sand dunes which warp it in from of crescent starts from the East of it at Qaser Ahmed to the area of Mediterranean basin, however some people think that it is the highest in the world so, it had the right to be named Dath Al-Remaal.
     Misurata city with its location along the Libyan coast seems to by like peninsula as the sea water wraps it from the North, the East and the west and the cape of Qaser Ahmed as a prominent sea headland named in the past by the name of kiphali or (kiphalaus) which gave it gentle climate in most sea sons.

   Rise Of Misurata:-


     Misurata is one of the commercial stations which were built by the Phoenicians on the Northwestern parts of the Libyan coast in the tenth century B.C, therefore it is over three thousand years old.
     And the city named by then ((Tobactus)) and obtained it's significance by being a crossway of a lot of vital crossroads and be cause it is in the middle of an agricultural area mentioned by name ((kiphali promentoryom)) in the documents named ((The lengeths of distances in the Grand Sea)) in the fourth century B.C, namely mentioned on those documents which date back over 2350 years and which are the oldest sources in which "Qaser Ahmed" area was mentioned and found so far.
     And the Geographer "strabo" described it in the first century A.D as a headland covered by forests and form the grand gulf of sirte   .
